the curtain parts
stopping hearts
all the people cringe and gasp
they gape wide-eyed
at what they see:
that freak is me

they don’t know
what’s below
my appearance is a mask:
a gentle soul
in a brilliant mind
both dwell inside

take the helm, the journey begins
everything’s alright
in this realm all fear starts to dim
the stars shine so bright

need to find a place
between time and space

thoughts so down
heavy load

no escape
from this rage
